Accelerated Development Programme for Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs
(Long-term certificate course)
A.Objectives of the course
The objective of the course is to develop leaders who have already demonstrated their leadership qualities and aspire to occupy the CEO position in a business firm.
B. Target participants
The course is targeted at young leaders with five to ten years of managerial experience, entrepreneurs and members of business families. Except entrepreneurs, participants must be nominated by the company in which the executive is employed or the company that is managed by the family to which the student belongs.
C. Duration
90 hours (60 sessions of 90 minutes each), excluding project (20 hours), over a period of nine months. 75 hours of online sessions and 15 hours of classroom sessions in workshop mode. [Workshop will also be online, if pandemic situation continues.]
D. Pedagogy
Intensive discussion of underlying principles, concepts and tools and case analysis. Executive students will be required to complete a live project.
E. Module details
Module Topic
1.Preparatory (pre-programme): Consolidation of thoughts through reading of articles and answering questionnaire.
2.Competitive Strategy: microeconomics and decision making, macroeconomics and Indian economy, environment and industry analysis, formulation and implementation of strategy, data driven decisions and innovation mind set
3.Business Communication: effective and honest commination and cross-cultural communication, data visualization and communication
4.Corporate Financial Reporting and Analysis
5.Corporate Finance
6.Strategic Marketing: marketing strategy, consumer behaviour analysis using data analytics, brand management
7. High performance leadership – authentic leadership, emotional intelligence, persuasive leadership, conflict management and negotiation skills
8. Workshop
Some topics will be culled out from the above modules and will be presented in workshop mode in classroom sessions. Location of classroom sessions will be decided based on the concentration of students.
9. Project
Every student will be required to complete a project under the guidance of a practicing professional, of his/her choice, preferably from the organisation in which he/she is employed or from a member of the family if the family is in business or (in case of an entrepreneur) a faculty of his/her choice.
F. Course Director and Faculty
Faculty will be a mix of former professors from IIMs and other reputed B-schools and universities, senior executives and successful entrepreneurs.
Course director: Asish K Bhattacharyya
Brief profile
Dr. Asish K Bhattacharyya is a Former Professor of IIM Calcutta and Ex-Director of IMT Ghaziabad. He also held the position of the Technical Director in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Before joining academia, he worked for twenty years in leadership positions in large companies. He holds a doctoral degree from the Allahabad University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (London). His focus areas are Corporate Financial Reporting, Management Accounting and Corporate Governance.
